    1. Dec. 7 — Paws with Santa
      9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Come to this central Phoenix festive Holiday Pet Event benefitting the Lost Our Home Pet Foundation.

Celebrate the season with your pooch at Paws With Santa benefitting Lost Our Home Pet Foundation. Pups and their owners can pose with Mr. Claus himself for a festive holiday portrait, mix and mingle over “yappy” hour food and drink specials, and enjoy complimentary pet goody bags provided by Noble Beast.

A $ 10 cash donation is suggested, with 100 percent of all donations benefitting Lost Our Home Pet Foundation’s mission to keep pets in loving homes when their families face major life challenges, and to provide compassionate alternatives when Realtors and the community find an abandoned pet.

    2. Dec. 7 — Fixing Fido’s Favorites
      1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Come to the Desert Botanical Garden on the border of Phoenix, Tempe and Scottsdale to hear an interesting presentation of what your dog should be eating. The diet of domesticated dogs today bears little resemblance to what their ancestors ate, and to what their wild relatives still eat. About 90 percent of the diet of these carnivores consists of meat, and the remaining 10 percent of grasses, grains, berries, fruits and bones. Commercial pet foods and treats emphasize grain, starch and sugar, and innumerable synthetic ingredients. Savvy veterinarians are beginning to link pet allergies and other health issues to a diet incompatible with a dog’s digestive tract. We will whip up several savory and easy-to-prepare treats that may not seem tasty to humans, but dogs love them. Protein and fat are emphasized over carbohydrates with no sweeteners or salt. Although we are making dog treats, students cannot bring their pets to the Garden at this time.
